Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study entitled controlling and monitoring system for gate and appliances using cellular phone aimed to develop a controller device which can be used in residential and industrial application. A device that can control simple home appliances and heavy motors such as 30 motor or 10, air condition, refrigerator and other heavy appliances by text message using cellular phone. This lessens the effort and time of the owner because he or she can turn on or turn off the intended appliances at any distance and this device will reply for confirmation. In developing this study, the researchers adopted the developmental type of research method. Two groups of respondents were selected for the evaluation of the product. The first group of the respondents included five (5) electronic experts from the University of Rizal System and ten (10) electronics students and also cell phone users to determine the acceptability of the device. Descriptive method was applied since the researchers made use of questionnaire checklist in determining the level of acceptability of the mentioned output in terms usefulness, functionality, performance and safety and maintenance. The independent t-test was applied to determine the significant difference between the evaluations made by the two groups of respondents on the acceptability of the device in terms of the above mentioned variables. In the acceptability of this device as perceived by the respondents revealed that the device was extremely accepted. Therefore, it was concluded that there is no significant difference between the evaluations made by the respondents. The following recommendations were based on the results of evaluation from the respondents such as more study should be made to understand and improve the study, battery and generator must be connected to the device just in case of brown out, manual switch must be added to the outlet intended for the appliances which can be use when the user in the house or near the appliances which is controlled by the device, each outlet that is intended for every single appliances must have it own code or password to enable, the system must reply to the user to confirm.
