Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study entitled "Social Adjustment and Academic Performance of Children with Autism were conducted in Maybancal Elementary School Morong, Rizal during the 2016-2017. It aimed to determine the significant difference of social adjustment and academic performance of children with autism. The respondents of the study are those children with autism but their parents answered the prepared questionnaire checklist. The study made use of Quantitative Research design. It involves the survey instrument using the adapted survey questionnaire checklist. The questionnaire was content validated by experts. The variables used in the study were the profiles of children with autism are sex, age, level of autism and academic performance. These were considered in relation to the aspect such as communication, socialization, and adaptation which were looked into their extent of social adjustment of children with autism. Frequency and percentage distribution were used to determine the profile of respondents in terms of their sex, age, level of autism and academic performance was computed using the weighted mean. And also, weighted mean were used to find the social adjustment with respect to different aspect. Finally, one way analysis of variance or ANOVA was used for finding the significant difference and academic performance with respect to communication, socialization, adaptation and their profile. Based on the result of the study, on the profile of children with autism with respect to age out of all respondents they fall on the 11-15 age bracket. In terms of sex, most of the respondents are male. In terms of level of autism spectrum disorder, the highest number of the respondents falls on the mild functioning level. In terms of general weighted average of academic performance of children with autism, they all obtained a passing rate, the extent of social adjustment of children with autism perceived by their parent-respondents in terms of communication, adaptation and socialization are all verbally interpreted as "Often". In the significant difference on the extent of social adjustment of children with autism as perceived by parent-respondents with respect to communication and adaptation, there is no significant difference in terms of their profile but with regards to socialization in terms of sex there is a significant difference. It concluded that children with autism often use communication, socialization and adaptation as this social adjustment at school. However, female with autism are more sociable than male with autism. It was recommended of Special Education Schools may provide seminar and training program to parents and teachers that will help children with autism to improve their communication, socialization and adaptation. Also, Special Education Schools may provide socialization to male student with autism and provide parallel studies may be conducted considering other variables.
