Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study analyzed the depression cases of five female participants and how openness can help them recover from depression. The study conducted at Antipolo, Teresa, Pililla, Angono in the province of Rizal, during the school year 2014-2015. The study used descriptive research design specifically qualitative method. It is one of the most common methods of qualitative data collection; participant observation is also one of the most demanding. It requires that the researcher become a participant in the culture or context being observed. The researcher found out that the participants express their happiness by spending time with their daughter, listening to music to escape from loneliness, talking to friends and having loved ones on their side, negative source of happiness was revealed of the participant involves bullying others. It also reveals that they express their loneliness by reminiscing happy moments with their husband, when they are alone, they feel so hopeless being alone and they change themselves for others. More over the participants explain depression and says that losing someone you love would never be easy, they feel like the world is cruel, staying alone is not easy it feels so hopeless, being depress is so difficult to overcome. And lastly, openness helps participant overcome depression by being sharing their problems to a person who is willing to listen about the expression of their feeling. The study found out that people who practice openness are easier to recover from depression. From the finding and conclusion of the study, the researchers recommended to practice openness in order avoid having depression.
