Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to design and construct a Drive Shaft for Bicycle out locally available materials. Specifically, it aimed to perform try-out and revision, evaluate the acceptability of the device in terms of usefulness, durability and safety and maintenance, and test the significant difference on the evaluation made by the experts and end-users. The researchers utilized the adapted and modified researcher-made questionnaire checklist to determine the acceptability of the Improvised Drive Shaft for bicycle. It was evaluated by five (5) experts and fifteen (15) end-users in terms of usefulness, durability and safety and maintenance. The respondents provided pertinent information's crucial to the completion of this study. The results were tallied, computed and interpreted. It used the weighted mean in determining the acceptability of the developed device. The t-test was used to test if there is any significant difference on the perception of the experts and end-users. Based on the analysis of data, it was determined that the Drive Shaft for Bicycle was accepted as evaluated by the experts and end-users. As revealed by the end-users, in terms of usefulness it obtained a weighted mean of 4.6; in terms of durability, 4.4; in terms of safety and maintenance, 4.7. It obtained a general weighted mean of 4.57 and verbally interpreted as extremely accepted. As revealed by the experts in terms of usefulness obtained a weighted mean of 3.8; in terms of durability 3.7; in terms of safety and maintenance, 3.7. it obtained a general weighted mean of 3.73 and verbally interpreted as Accepted. The computed T-value in terms of usefulness, durability and safety and maintenance shows that there is significant difference on the evaluation made by the experts and end-users. Based on the summary of the findings, the following conclusions were drawn; the device was effective according to its usefulness, durability and safety and maintenance; there is significant difference on the evaluations made by the experts and end-users. It was recommended that a bigger diameter of helical gear should be used on the pedal to increase the speed; and to develop an easier way of detaching the components facilitate maintenance , put a cover on gearing mechanism for safety precaution; other researchers should conduct parallel study to further improve the design of the device and enhance its capacity.
