Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: "Influence of Parenting Style on the adolescent level of depression". This research aimed to determine the difference between adolescent parenting style and level of depression. The study was conducted in University of Rizal System Morong, Rizal during the school year 2016-2017. The study involved of two hundred (200) adolescent participants. The variables utilized in the study are the adolescent's parenting style and level of depression. The study used descriptive method utilizing the adopted questionnaire. The data gathered was statistically computed using mean and one way ANOVA. The findings revealed that authoritative parenting style has the highest frequency and percentage. Authoritative parenting style listens to their children, allow children to express their opinions and administer fair and consistent discipline. Permissive parenting style has few rules and standards, ask their children's opinions on major decisions rarely enforce and type of consequences. Authoritarian parenting style tend to be very demanding, but not responsive, utilize punishments with little or no explanation, they don't give children choices or options and negligent parenting style that has the lowest frequency and percentage. Negligent parenting style are emotionally distant from their children, offer little or no supervision, show little warmth, love, and affection towards their children. With the level of depression of adolescent authoritative and permissive parenting style has the level of mild moderate depression while authoritarian and neglectful parenting style has the level of moderate severe depression. However parenting style and level of depression warrants the null hypothesis to be rejected and considered as significant with respect to their difference. Moreover, the study found out that parenting style has a significant difference on the adolescent level of depression. Based on the summary of findings and conclusions, it is recommended that University of Rizal System is encouraged to offer seminars, activities, or programs that would strengthen parent and child relationship through family day, and parenting strategies. Government institutions through Department of Social Welfare and Development may come up with programs and activities that will cater parenting strategies, family counseling. Future researchers may conduct a similar study in different settings using other variables.
