Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Mathematics major in Computer Science) -- University of Rizal System-Morong.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study aimed to determine the effects of the developed Running Math Challenge in encouraging students to find mathematics fun and enjoyable. Descriptive developmental method of research was used in the study. Descriptive-developmental method was utilized it helped a lot in gathering and interpreting the data that used in the study. The method is also used in evaluating the acceptability of the study. The respondents of the study were composed of (49) forty-nine Grade IV Section 1 Pupils and All Elementary Faculty Members from Tomas Claudio Memorial Elementary School. The instruments used are the adopted questionnaire checklist from the adopted and modified questionnaire checklist (researched and developed by Kristin Miller and Jacqueline Bach, SAS in School interns, Summer, 2001) as the source of data for acceptability of the program. The finding of the study conceded that the developed program is acceptable by both groups of respondents as perceived by the result. There is no significant difference on the level of acceptability of the developed program Running Math Challenge as perceived by both groups of respondents in terms of the eight variables. Based on the summary of findings, it was concluded that it serves as a tool in encouraging students to find mathematics fun and enjoyable at the same time their mental ability is being enhance and can provide easy application of the lessons that will benefit both teachers and students. From the findings and conclusion drawn, it is recommended that the developed program may be used for encouraging the students to be more likely in solving mathematics and may be a motivational tool for students to have an interesting way to find easier. Follow-up study may be conducted for further enhancement on the effectiveness of the developed program.
