The extent of use of smart phone and level of interest in learning

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Technology has been the identity and edge of this time amongst other time frame. The advancement in technology brought us to new ways creating and innovating ideas. Ideas plotted have been transformed into actions results into vast products which make our lives easy. As to have living in this period of time, we must all be into progress. Going with the flow means we have to adapt quickly on the changes and the things this era has been offering to us. Great cultivation has been made in the area of communication and information technology where different gadgets have been innovated and invented for an easier living. The pleasure and extravagant features the gadgets gives to us, technology experts have been pushing on having them wingspread. Luckily, for us living here in the Asia, specifically Philippines, new gadgets are ample as we strive to be in a technology oriented world. The existence of smart phones in our daily lives gives a definite upgrade in one's life. And since majority of the users belongs in the youth section, we have focused on students; thinking how the use of smart phones affect one's academic performances of their learning. In order to have a clear direction for this research we come up with the goal of answering if there is a relationship in the use of Smart Phones with the interest in learning of College Students; which has been conducted in University of Rizal System-Morong Campus. The researchers arrived in this topic as to which the researchers have observed that students of URS-Morong have been utilizing their smart phones most of the times. Eighty participants has been selected coming from the four colleges namely, College of Education, College of Industrial Technology, College of Science and College of Engineering; all purposively selected. Criterion for the participants is that one shall possess and uses their smart phones. After collecting the data, it has been revealed that the students are always using their smart phones at home due to availability of time and internet connection; however, still the purpose is academically linked. They are using their smart phones to research and open web sites which help them on studies. It has also been found out that students have installed applications for certain purposes still linked with learning. The level of interest is dependent on the extent of use. The researchers have concluded that the extent of use of smart phones has a significant relationship in the level of interest in learning of the College students of University of Rizal System Morong Campus.
