Testing and analysis of sensor activities in power on steam 100

Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study entitled "Testing and Analysis of Sensor Activities in Poweron STEM 100 for the subject ME Elective 3: Electro-Mechanical Switches and Sensors" provides and output composing of user's activity manual of 5 activities using motors, sensors, and actuators that are assembled to simulate mechanical work. It also provides accuracy tests regarding each part as the unit executes the movements programmed through on-line system. The study aimed to tests and analyzes the accuracy of sensors such as magnetic, touch and light sensors which can benefit mechanical engineering students of the University of their Future Experiments and provide them better knowledge about electro-mechanical switches and sensors and its application in robotics. This is why a user's activity manual is developed as an output of this study. The researchers used the experimental method of research. Test experiments are conducted as instrument in gathering the needed data and information to attain the desired evaluation of the accuracy of the sensors and actuators. Positive results are gathered in terms of accuracy as the actual values for every movement and executions of different motors and actuators matched those values encoded in the program. Small standard deviations were obtained between values which implies that they were functioning accurately. As a conclusion, the researchers were able to assemble five sensor activities using Poweron STEM 100 kit and develop a program for each activity using VJC-Poweron. The results of the tests imply that the activities performed using sensors and actuators are functioning accurately. With this, the researcher developed a user's activity manual containing these activities intended for the future use as part of the subject ME Elective 3: Electro-Mechanical Switches and Sensors. The researchers generally recommended developing more activities using Poweron STEM 100 kit that can test its flexibility. The program can still be modified to formulate better ideas for further innovation of the project. The College of Engineering students may use the Poweron STEM 100 kit in conducting activities and experiments for better understanding of the topic robotics and mechatronics. Validation of the user's activity manual as a guide of mechanical engineering students in conducting activities using Poweron STEM 100 kit is also recommended.
