The study was conducted from June to September 2018 at the University of Rizal System SY. 2018-2019. The study used descriptive design in determining the growth profile of isolates, characterization in terms of colony morphology, gram stain reaction, and catalase reaction and antibiotic potential against Streptococcus pneumoniae, Salmonella typhimurium and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The study utilized: preparation of materials to be used, collection of water in two seasons in Mount Sembrano, pre heat treatment of water, preparation of culture media, dilution of water, purification of Actinomycetes, counting of colony, isolation of Actinomycetes, morphological analysis of Actinomycetes, slanting, grams staining, catalase test, antibiotic production, and examination of inhibition of organism. Descriptive discussions were used to determine the profile of isolated Actinomycetes in terms of rate of growth, characteristics and determine the antibiotic potential of isolated Actinomycetes against Streptococcus pneumoniae, Salmonella typhimurium and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The isolation, characterization and antibiotic potential test was done in 3rd floor College of Science Bldg. B. because the tools and apparatuses needed for the experiments were available there. The result of the study revealed that the morphology of the forty three (43) isolates were filamentous, curled, and entire. Moreover, the biochemical and physiological test results revealed that forty one (41) isolates were grams positive and there are two (2) gram negative. While forty two (42) isolates are catalase positive and one (1) is catalase negative. Moreover, the results from Antibiotic potential test revealed that Actinomycetes are active against Streptococcus pneumonia and Salmonella typhimurium but not so in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Based on the findings, the study concluded that Actinomycetes can be isolated from Mount Sembrano water, characterized mostly gram positive and have antibiotic potential against Streptococcus pneumonia and Salmonella typhimurium.
