EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to develop an improvised bench vise out of locally available materials. Specifically, this study attempted to design and construct perform try-out and revision and determine the level of acceptability of the device in terms of usability, durability, functionality, and safety and maintainability. It also determined the level of performance in terms of single and double clamping capability. Lastly the study also determined the significant difference of the evaluations made by the respondents on the acceptability of the improvised bench vise. It was conducted at the university of rizal system, morong campus during the academic year 2018-2019. The improvised bench vise was designed and constructed out of affordable and locally-available materials. The researchers considered several factors in designing the device, such as the availability of potential material and parts which is needed in constructing. By seeking opinions of the experts, the researchers successfully finished the construction of the device. Try-out and revisions are also done by the researchers during the construction period of the improvised bench vise. Through try-out revision, the project reached the functional output and attained its purpose after revising the different defects found. The acceptability of the improvised bench vise was evaluated, and found as extremely usable, extremely durable, extremely functionable and extremely safe and maintainable while the existing vise was evaluated as vey usable, very durable, very functionable and very safe and maintainable. On the level of performance in terms of single and double clamping capability the improvised bench vise attained verbally interpretation of very capable while the existing vise got a verbal interpretation as capable. The researchers found out that there is a significant difference on the evaluation made by the respondents in the level of acceptability in terms of usability, durability, functionability and safety and maintainability.
