Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Psychology) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study was conducted to determine the relationship of achievement goal and academic performance of Grade 7 and Grade 10 students in Morong National High School. This study was conducted during School Year 2016-2017. The subject of the study comprised of three hundred fourteen (314) Grade 7 and Grade 10 students of Morong National High School. The study used quantitative descriptive research design utilizing the achievement goal questionnaire in gathering the needed data about the influence of achievement goal on the academic performance. The data gathered using achievement goal questionnaire were statistically treated using mean, ranking, and Pearson-product moment (Pearson r). The findings revealed that Grade 7 students' achievement goals in terms of mastery-approach goal, mastery-avoidance goal, performance-approach goal and performance-avoidance goal has a significant relationship with the level of their academic performance while Grade 10 students' achievement goals in terms of performance approach goal is the only goal that has a significant relationship to the level of their academic performance. The study concluded that adopting achievement goal helped Grade 7 and Grade 10 students in improving or maintaining their level of academic performance. The four factors of achievement goal promoted different motives in studying which affects their performance. From the findings the researcher recommend that: Educational institution may continuously promotes a high standard of achievement that provides all students with the learning opportunities and support they need, and that is relevant to society's needs and expectation; DepEd may monitor the implementation of well-designed programs that will help students develop their skill of inquiry, analysis and problem solving so that they become superior learners; Schools is encouraged to provide workshop and seminars that will help students enhance self-regulation to help them achieve high academic performance; and the guidance office is to encouraged to assist students in setting goal and identifying what achievement goal is applicable on them.
