Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Biology) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study aimed to determine the anticholinergic activity of ethanolic extract and decoction of Angel's Trumpet flower. The study was conducted from November 2015 to October 2016 at University of Rizal System Morong, Rizal SY. 2016-2017. Experimental research design was employed in the study. The study used twenty (20) rabbits for the anticholinergic activity of Angels trumpet. Five (5) rabbits were used per treatment for control, decoction, ethanolic extract and Atropine Sulfate which served as the positive control. The processes used in the study involved the gathering of materials, acclimatization of the test animals, and following the standard laboratory procedure for testing anticholinergic activity of plants based on the Laboratory Manual for Pharmacology by Cobangbang et al (1989). In determining the rate of anticholinergic activity of ethanolic extract and decoction of Angel's trumpet flower and commercially prepared Atropine Sulfate, mean and standard deviation were used. one-way analysis of variance was also utilized to determine the significant difference on the rate of anticholinergic against the said drug. In terms of dilation, the highest mean was obtained by the rabbits treated with ethanol extract of angel's trumpet with a mean of 0.36 and standard deviation of 0.15, followed by the rabbits treated with Atropine Sulfate and decoction with both mean of 0.32 and standard deviation of 0.13 and 0.11 respectively. Lastly, the rabbits treated with distilled water obtained the mean of 0. In terms of duration, the highest mean was obtained by the rabbits treated with decoction with a mean of 56.40 and a standard deviation of 6.35, followed by the rabbits treated with Atropine Sulfate with a mean of 15.20 and a standard deviation of 2.28. And the rabbits treated with ethanol extract with the mean of 12.80 and standard deviation of 2.86. In terms of percent increase, the highest percentage increase was obtained by the rabbits treated with ethanolic extract with 72 percent. Followed by the rabbits treated with Atropine Sulfate and decoction which attained the same percentage of 64 percent. In terms of dilation, the calculated F value is 66.91 is higher than the tabulated value of 3.24 with 3 and 16 degree of freedom between and within groups and 95% level of significance. In terms of duration, that the between groups it obtained the calculated F value of 167.80 which is higher than the tabulated value of 3.90 using 2 and 12 degrees of freedom between groups and within at 95% level of significance. The findings reveals that there is significant difference on the rate of anticholinergic activity of ethanolic extract and decoction of angels trumpet flowers, distilled water and Atropine Sulfate administered in rabbits. Based on the result obtained it can be concluded that Angels trumpet flower extract has anticholinergic activity. Thus, the study recommended that the angels trumpet has a potential source of anticholinergic agent. However, further study on the other uses of Angel's Trumpet flower is suggested.
