Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: Executive Summary: This study entitled "Improvement of Drainage System in Sitio Ibayo, Barangay Lagundi, Morong, Rizal" was carefully studied and designed for the purpose of proposing a design of drainage system that will control and minimize the amount of overland flow of water. The researcher primarily focused on designing the dimensions of channel that can help on limiting excessive water due to heavy rain from overflowing. The methods applied on this study were developmental and descriptive type of research. The researchers used developmental research design since it aims to develop a new solution and design about the drainage problem. In developmental research design since it aims to develop a new solution and design about the drainage problem. In developmental research design, the researchers focus on finding solutions to a certain problem and develop and develop a more suitable process or idea. Descriptive research was used to describe the characteristics of the subject or the situation. It gathers quantifiable information that underwent statistical treatment for evaluation and analysis purpose. Drainage system design uses the principles of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Reinforced Concrete in determining the total capacity of water that it could accommodate. Estimation of the instantaneous peak flow rate is required wherein the widely used method is the Rational formula using the rainfall of desire frequency. The study employs surveys, data gathering, experimentation, and calculations to determine the design drainage system. The researchers conducted survey on the area to determine the needed variables and evaluated them to come up with an output. The researchers used the aid of Drawing Utility Software (AutoCAD) and Google Earth Pro to determine the area of concerned lots. It was determined that the existing drainage system is insufficient to hold the vlume of precipitation in Sitio Ibayo, Brgy. Lagundi, Morong, Rizal. Thus, the computed dimension for rectangular cross-section for improved drainage system is 0.60m by 0.90m for Road 1, and 0.50m by 0.65m for Road 2 and Road 3. Also, the thickness of wall and slab used is equal to one hundred millimeters. The total cost for the construction of the new design of design drainage system is Php. 10,277,180.70. It was distinguished and concluded that a rectangular cross-section which is uniform to any point of drainage line can hold the amount of discharged water in the area. The designed drainage system can carry large volume of discharged water based from the rainfall intensity data. Based on the findings and conclusions drawn, the researchers recommend for the community concerned to coordinate with the government officials regarding the implementation of the proposed design. Government shall also provide a strict ordinance about proper waste disposal. Also, further study should be made about the catchment area.
