Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The thesis entitled Development of Portable Programmable Logic Control (PLC) Trainer and Training Manual for Mechanical Engineering Laboratory is a research that focus on aiding the students with materials suitable for mechanical Engineering to easiy learn PLC. The PLC trainer was specially designed to suit the needs of Mechanical Engineering while the training manual were provided with steps by steps process of learning altogether with usable activities. The trainer was designed also to suit the needs of industries. Developmental type of study was used by the researchers in developing a trainer board for easy process and constructing the manual. Descriptive was also used by the researchers for interpreting the data gathered in testing the research acceptability. The researchers utilized the available materials to lessen the cost of production of the trainer. Researchers also constructed the manual with the aid of the readily available instructor also to lessen the publication cost. Based on the conducted evaluation and analysis, it was proven by the researchers that the needs of the Mechanical Engineering students in University of Rizal System-Morong Campus in studying PLC were all met by the constructed output. The constructed output could give interest for Mechanical Engineering in studying PLC also because the manual is understandable and interesting. The analysis of acceptability of the device shows that the trainer and training manual was very much acceptable in terms of instruction manual, user-interface and effectiveness as evaluated by the Mechanical Engineering students and engineering professor. The output was also compared more afforadable and more portable than the commercially sold model based on the computation and gathered information. Based on the data it was concluded by the researchers that the PLC is very much acceptable to Mechanical Engineering student and way cheaper and smaller than commercially sold model.
