EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to determine the yield performance of Bani Seed oil and to characterize its capabilities as biofuel in accordance to Philippine National Standards for Biofuel. The study used the descriptive design of research. The oil extracted from Bani seed was subjected to transesteriffication process to determine its yield performance and to convert the oil to biofuel. Biofuel from Bani seed was analyzed and characterized to know its capabilities as biofuel. The actual analysis was held at the Laboratory of the Department of Energy (DOE) in Taguig, Metro Manila. The result reveals that the oil from Bani seeds obtained a high yield of Faty Acid Methyl Ester. The study reveals that biofuel from bani seed passed the Philippine National Standard (PNS) for Biofuel in terms of Acid number, Carbon residue, Fatty Acid Methyl Ester content (FAME), and Kinematic viscosity 40ᵒC mm2 /sec. however, the kinematic viscosity at 100ᵒC mm2/sec and Viscosity index has no PNS limit, the study found that the result obtained from Biofuel of Bani Seed in terms of Kinematic Viscosity at 100ᵒC mm2/sec ensures that the biofuel has a suitable for characteristics to reach injectors at certain operating temperatures and the result obtained in viscosity index is high that is fitted for engine used. moreover, the FAME content is lower than the existing biofuel but it's still applicable for engine uses.
