The growth performance of kawayang tinik (bamusa blumeana schult.)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study is entitled The Growth Performance of Kawayang Tinik (Bambusa blumeana schult.) in Local and in Controlled Environments. The study was conducted to determine the growth performance of Kawayang Tinik In Local and controlled environment. Forty (40) culm cuttings of Kawayang Tinik were collected from Looc, Cardona in Rizal province, and planted in two different locations. This study utilized the experimental method of research in determining the growth performance of Kawayang Tinik in the local and controlled environment. The data obtained were analyzed and interpreted using percentage, mean standard deviation and independent t-test. To determine the viability of Kawayang Tinik in Local and Controlled Environment, the researchers used percentage. To determine the growth performance of Kawayang Tinik, mean and standard deviation were used. Independent t-test was applied to find out the significant difference on the growth performance of Kawayang Tinik in Local and controlled environment. Based from the results of the analyzed data, it was revealed that there is significant difference between the growth performance of Kawayang Tinik in Local and controlled environments in terms of number of branch and number of nodes per branch. Controlled environment showed rapid growth performance than the local environment. It was therefore recommended that planting of Kawayang Tinik is not only in local environment but can also be in controlled environment. Further studies should be conducted involving other ways propagating and planting Kawayang for better growth performance. Moreover, studies on the utilization of Kawayang Tinik be conducted as it can be planted not only in local but also in controlled environment.
