Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: With the aim of providing material that will help learners to develop their competencies and teachers to teach the subject easier, the researchers conducted a study entitled 'Development and Acceptability of Competency-Based Enrichment Activities in Reading for Grade 7 students'. The research utilized the developmental descriptive research method using own modified questionnaire checklist for the evaluation for the competency-based enrichment activities in terms of Objectives, content, language and style used, appropriateness and usefulness. The competency-based enrichment activities were developed by using three (3) phases. Phase 1 covers the preparation of the researchers in their study. The second phase involves the conceptualizing, making, designing, styling and lay outing of the competency-based enrichment activities. Phase 3 contains the finalization of the developed competency-based enrichment activities. The respondents were composed of grade 7 English teachers from the selected public high schools in the division of Rizal who laid their evaluation on the enrichment activities. There are five (5) grade 7 English teachers from Tanay National High School, three (3) from Morong National High School, two (2) from Marciana P. Catolos Memorial National High School, two (2) from Teresa National High School, two (2) from Cardona National High School, one (1) from Tanay West National High School and also one (1) from Lagundi-CCL National High School. Overall, there were eighteen (18) respondents. The respondents agreed that the develop enrichment activity was very much acceptable material in teaching reading for grade 7 students. The researchers therefore recommended that a follow up study may be conducted o the effectiveness of the developed enrichment activities in reading for grade 7 students.
