Thesis (Bachelor of Elementary Education major in Special Education) -- University of Rizal System-Morong.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to know the effects of bullying on the behavior of hearing impaired pupils. The study was conducted at Tayuman Elementary School during the SY 2014-2015. The respondents were the twenty-one (21) hearing impaired pupils who were chosen through purposive sampling technique. The study used descriptive-evaluative type of research utilizing the questionnaire-checklist as the instrument in gathering data to determine the effects of bullying on the behavior of Special Education pupils as perceived by the respondents with respect to social, emotional, physical and mental aspects. The responses were collected, tabulated and interpreted using the appropriate statistical treatment. Mean was used to determine the academic performance of the respondents in terms of different subjects; Pearson r was used to determine the relationship between the academic performance of the respondents and the effect of bullying with respect to social, mental, physical and emotional aspects. From the analysis of data the following findings were summarized: the special education pupils performed satisfactorily in English, Math and Science; Bullying sometimes affected the behavior of special education pupils in terms of social and physical aspect; bullying rarely affect the behavior of special education pupils in terms of emotional aspect and bullying never affect the behavior of special education pupils in terms of mental aspect. Lastly, there is no significant relationship between the academic and the effects of bullying on the behavior of special education pupils. Based on the findings the following conclusions were hereby drawn: Special Education pupils perform satisfactorily in academic subjects; Bullying affect the behavior of special education pupils; and there is no significant relationship between the academic performance and the effect of bullying on the behavior of special education pupils with respect to different aspects. The researchers recommended to expose special education pupils on social activities to increase interpersonal relationship and conduct follow up study considering other variable.
