EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study aimed to develop and validate a Test in Grammar for Grade 5 Learners. It was conducted at Tomas Claudio Memorial Elementary School during the School Year 2017-2018 with the selected learners as participants. The study used the utilizing developmental descriptive method of research to describe and evaluate the validity of the developed Test in Grammar. Item Analysis and Spearman-rho were used to determine the indices of validity and reliability of the developed Test in Grammar. On the basis of the data gathered most of the items were found to be average with respect to subject-verb agreement, correct usage, and identifying errors. The performance of the learners in grammar as revealed by the test result with respect to different competencies was Average. From the findings, the conclusion was drawn that the developed test in grammar was valid and reliable. Based on the findings and conclusion the study recommended that further validation of the test in Grammar can be conducted and parallel study may also be conducted considering other variables.
