EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This research study aimed to develop and construct a Dual-purposed Refrigerator. Specifically, it sought to design and construct a device out of locally available materials; performed try-out and revision; evaluate the acceptability in terms of functionality, usefulness, maintenance and safety features; moreover, test the significant difference on the evaluation made by the experts and end-users in terms of above mentioned criteria, determine the performance of the Dual-Purposed refrigerator in terms of the warming time and freezing time; furthermore develop a users manual for the sequential operation of the device. This research project focused on the development of Dual-purposed refrigerator. This was conducted at the University of Rizal System of Morong Campus by the students of Bachelor of Technology major in Electro-mechanical A.Y. 2016-2017. It was limited to the design, conceptualization, construction, testing and revision. This also made for instructional purposes to ensure the learning process on how to assemble and construct ducts and calculating loads correctly. This study utilized the developmental and descriptive methods of research since this is a purposive study designing, calculation and constructing Dual purposed refrigerator which considers electricity as its source. Validated researcher-made questionnaire-checklist was used to determine the acceptability of the Dual-Purposed Refrigerator, experts in Electro-mechanical and other instructors involved to validate the instructional device. In terms of design and construction of device, it was constructed and developed out of low cost and locally available materials. On try-out and revision the device was tested for operation where different weaknesses were manifested. Through try-out and revision of the project reached the functional output and attained the project objectives. In the acceptability of the completed output of Dual-Purposed Refrigerator. It was verbally interpreted as "Very Much Accepted" respectively in terms of functionality. In terms of usefulness the device merited a verbal interpretation of "Very Much Accepted". In terms of maintenance the Dual Purposed Refrigerator obtained a verbal interpretation of "Very Much Accepted". In terms of safety features the device obtained a verbal interpretation as "Very Much Accepted". On the significant difference between the evaluation made by the end-users and the experts, the end-users ranked first on "Functionality" with weighted mean of 4.9 then followed by "Usefulness" and "Safety features" with weighted mean of 4.8 and lastly is "Maintenance" with weighted mean of 4.7 and all variables are verbally interpreted as "Very Much Accepted". Moreover, the experts has the same ranked on Functionality, Usefulness, Maintenance and Safety features with weighted mean of 4.8 and all items are verbally interpreted as "Very Much Accepted". This implies that the groups of respondents were satisfied as far as functionality, usefulness, maintenance and safety features are concerned. On the performance of the Dual-Purposed Refrigerator in terms of the warming time and freezing time. The warming efficiency of the Dual-Purposed Refrigerator obtained a weighted mean of "3", verbally interpreted as "Good". Whereas the food loads increases and time operation gets longer, the temperature decreases. On the other hand, the freezing time also obtained a mean of "3", verbally interpreted as "Good" in the different trials made whereas the food loads increases and time operation gets longer, the temperature increases. The user's Manual was developed composed of Specification, Operating Procedures. Safety Precautions, Maintenance and parts and their functions which is very useful for the end users as instruction for using the Dual-Purposed Refrigerator.
