EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The purpose of the study is to determine the social value orientation of individuals belonging to the different age groups and significant difference of those social value orientations to those of other age groups with regards to the contexts of hypothetical reward and real reward. The researchers used quasi-experimental as method of research design. Quota sampling was the sampling method used to determine the respondents of the study. The respondents of the study were 90 students from the University of Rizal System Morong Campus. The respondents were divided into 3 different age groups namely children, adolescents, and young adults. Each age group consist of 30 respondents per group. The researchers adopted the Triple dominance measure of Social Value Orientation by Van Lange, et al. in determining the social value orientation of the respondents in the context of hypothetical reward and real reward. The data are then interpreted and subjected to statistical treatment. Frequency distribution was utilized in determining the social value orientation of the respondents in the two contexts. Chi-square was utilized to determine the significant differences of the social value orientation of the respondents among different age groups in the two contexts. The result showed the majority of the respondents were identified as prosocial in both contexts of hypothetical reward and real reward. It was also determined that there was no significant differences on the social value orientation of the respondents among different age groups in the two context of hypothetical reward while there was a significant difference in the context of real reward. The researchers were able to conclude that the social value orientation prosocial is determined by the presence of reward. Based on the conclusion and findings, the researcher recommended the application of reward in home and in school to motivate students to participate in social situations. Further studies considering other aspects that may be related to social value orientation and different setting are also recommended.
