Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study was entitled coping strategies and level of perceived psychological distress of physically handicapped individuals in Tahanang Walang Hagdan Incorporated. The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship of the extent of the use of coping strategies and level of perceived psychological distress and its significant relationship. The subjects of the study were the physically handicapped individuals of Tahanang Walang Hagdan Incorporated. The subjects were composed of 40 respondents that were randomly selected. The researchers adapted two(2) questionnaire checklist which they used to obtained the necessary data. T-test for r was used to determine the extent of use of coping strategies and level of perceived psychological distress of physically handicapped individuals in Tahanang Walang hagdan Incorporated. The collected data were treated, interpreted and summarized, presentations of findings of the study were done. Findings revealed that physically handicapped individuals have low ;eve; use of emotion focused and high level use of problem focused. In terms of level of perceived psychological distress, they are less distress, they are less distressed. To the respondents, this helped in acquiring additional knowledge and information to to open their mind that coping strategies can help them how to deal with psychological distress they might experience as physically handicapped individuals. Based on the findings, there is a significant relationship between the coping strategies and level of perceived level of psychological distress. Based from the study, the following conclusions were drawn: respondents' uses problem focused coping strategy more often than emotion focused and they are less distressed. It is recommended that city government particularly DSWD, may provide a program that will introduce problem focused coping strategy and livelihood project for the physically handicapped individuals.
