Thesis (Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Technology and Livelihood Education) -- University of Rizal System-Morong.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to determine the performance and preparedness in teaching of the Bachelor of Secondary Education pre-service teachers major in Technology and Livelihood Education in terms of the different components in TLE with respect to mastery of subject area, instructional skills, communication skill and classroom management skill. Also, it is geared to determine the performance of the respondents in student teaching as evaluated by their cooperating teachers with respect to attendance, participation, leadership, lesson planning, teaching methods, classroom management, instructional skill, communication skill and teacher's personality. The study was conducted at the University of Rizal System during the SY 2015-2016. The respondents of the study were the fourth year Bachelor of Secondary Education students major in Technology and Livelihood Education. The researchers administered a questionnaire checklist to the respondents to determine the performance and preparedness in teaching of the respondents. Mean was used to determine the performance of the respondents in terms of the different components in TLE and in student teaching. The findings revealed that the majority of the respondents were very much prepared in teaching with respect to the different components in TLE and outstanding in student teaching with respect to mastery of subject's area, instructional skill, communication skill, classroom management skill, attendance, participation, leadership, lesson planning, teaching methods, classroom management, instructional skill, communication skill and teacher's personality. From the summary of the findings, it was concluded that the Bachelor of Secondary Education Pre-service teachers are very much prepared to practice the teaching profession. As a result of the foregoing findings and conclusion, it was recommended to give emphasis or attention on the other components in TLE such as Business Math and Basic Plumbing and conduct parallel study considering other variables such as welding, Automotive and Computer Education.
