Thesis Bachelor of Technology major in Automotive Technology University of Rizal System-Morong. 2017
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to design and construct an Improvised Brake Lining Riveter that can remove and install rivets from the brake shoe which can be done by one person alone. It was developed using locally available materials during the school year 2017-2018 at the University of Rizal System Morong Campus. In conducting the study, the researchers used the developmental and descriptive type of research method. Two groups were chosen for the evaluation of the study. The first group were chosen for the evaluation of the study. The first group of respondents were composed of ten (10) experts from the automotive and mechanical professors while the second group were composed of twenty (20) end-users coming from the automotive students and supervised industrial trainees. The adapted and modified questionnaire-checklist was utilized to determine the level of acceptability of the device with respect to functionality, usefulness, durability and safety and maintenance. It was also used to determine the significant difference between the evaluation made by the experts and end-users in terms of the aforementioned variables. As the gathered data were computed, the results revealed that the device is extremely functional, extremely useful, extremely durable and extremely safe and maintainable. It also revealed that there was no significant difference between the evaluation made by the two groups of respondents in terms of the selected variables. Therefore the device was accepted. Based from the results of the study, the researchers arrived with the following recommendations. First, the removing pin should be sharpened for better performance. Sharpen it carefully using a grinder if needed. Second, the device can be used as an instructional material in technical schools. Third, the future researchers are encouraged to conduct further studies for more enhancement and improvement of the developed device.
