The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of fish scales as water filter and was conducted to identify if activated fish scales charcoal will help the reduction water impurities in terms of microbiological characteristics. The study used developmental method of research and pre-test post-test design to determine the effectivity of the fish scales charcoal. The result of the study revealed that the fish scales charcoal can filter the microbiological characteristics of water. Heterotrophic plate count exhibit the highest positive result. Therefore it is potent on filtering the heterotrophic plate count (HPC) of ground water which is a microbiological parameters of water having mean difference of 2619.99 in its pre-test and post-test analysis. The researchers concluded that activated fish scale charcoal is effective on filtering the microbiological characteristics of water specifically the heterotrophic count (HPC).
