EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to determine the effect of selected dioscorid tubers extract on estrous cycle and reproduction rate of female albino mice. It started with the collection of the selected tubers from Tanay, Rizal where plenty of tubers are available while the experiment proper was performed at Laboratory Room 311, Isidro S. Rodriguez (ISR) Building of University of Rizal System, because the said room is equipped with the extraction equipment and the needed laboratory apparatuses are readily available. Mean and standard deviation were used to determine the number of offspring and the length of the days of reproduction between treated and untreated mice with the extract of the tubers before and after administration. Meanwhile, dependent t-test was used to determine the significant difference in the number of offspring and the length of the reproduction between treated and untreated mice with the extract of the tubers before and after the administration. The result under treated groups or experimental group, the mice was treated with pure concentrations of selected dioscorid tubers extract of Tugui/Tugue, Totoong Ube, Mayatbang, and Bayad Toro orally administered by means of gavage. There was no observed birth recorded in all treatments with dioscorid tubers. Further, the untreated group shows the highest number of births. It was therefore concluded that the selected Dioscorid tubers extract is effective agent to prevent the estrous cycle so that there will be no reproduction. Hence, it was recommended that the selected dioscorid tubers extract can be used for preventing the estrous cycle. It was also recommended that more extensive studies on other biological activity of the selected dioscorid tubers extract should be conducted.
