Dissertation note: Thesis (Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Physical Sciences) -- University of Rizal System-Morong. Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study developed the Constellation Model in Earth Science for Grade 9 learners and determined its effectiveness. This was conducted at Taytay National High School during the School year 2016-2017. The developed interactive instructional material will help the students to increase their interest to learn lessons in Earth and Space. The researchers used One shot single group experimental design, one group of respondents who answered the questionnaire which was composed of twenty (20) items to determine the increase in the level of performance of students exposed to the instructional material. In defining how the Constellation Model was developed, qualitative analysis was used. In determining the level of performance of the Grade 9 learners before and after the exposure to the developed Constellation Model in Earth Science with respect to the different lesson as revealed I the pre-test and post-test, mean and standard deviation was used. To determine significant difference on the level of performance of the Grade 9 learners before and after the exposure to the developed Constellation Model in Earth Science with respect to the different lesson as revealed I the pre-test and post-test, dependent t test were used. To know how do the Science experts assess the developed Constellation Model, mean and qualitative analysis were used. It was found out that there is an increase in the performance of the learners as they were exposed to the developed model, but statistically, there is no significant difference on the level of performance of the learners before and after their exposure to the developed model. Based on the findings of this study, it was concluded that the instructional material has the potential to arouse the interest of the learners hence, improving their performance, nonetheless, there are factors that may affect the effectiveness of the material, and thus the performance of the students is also affected. In addition, it was found out on the assessment of the developed model by the science experts, content is very satisfactory, errors are not present and the other requirements for manipulatives such as Technical and Instructional design are very satisfactory. The study therefore recommends the enhancement and improvement of the graphics and materials of the developed Constellation model in teaching Earth Science and a parallel study may be conducted using the model or another lesson.
