Online resources: Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Technology and Livelihood Education University of Rizal System - Taytay 2015 Summary: This is an investigation on the adoption of all teachers in Taytay National High School in applying basic computer applications on their teaching profession. This study also covered the different capabilities as a response to their way of facilitating the students through the help of basic Microsoft Office application and other advance software application in computer. Moreover this study also includes the barriers that hinder their interest about using the basic computer application. The study was conducted to measure teacher's capability in using basic computer application. The hindrances in the utilization of technology were also exposed and if the said school is ready to integrate technology into education as required in the K-12 curriculum. The descriptive research design was used in the study. A total of ninety (90) teachers were considered as the respondents in this study. The researcher -made questionnaire checklist called "Teachers Computer Survey" was divided into three sections which are teacher profile, computer skills and communication and information. The data collected were tallied, analyzed, tabulated and interpreted. Statistical treatments used were percentage, weighted mean, ranking, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). To assess the teacher's capability, the researchers considered the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, civil status, school graduated and computer availability at home. What are the teachers capabilities in using basic computer applications like Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft PowerPoint; and Information and Communication Gathering. The study also identified the significant relationship between the demographic profile and the skills of the teacher respondents. Based on the result of the survey, the skills of the teacher respondents in terms of using Microsoft Word is "sufficient" as this category gleaned an overall weighted mean of 4.1967. While in terms of skills in using Microsoft Excel the teacher - respondents got an overall weighted mean of 4.0367 which falls again in verbal interpretation as "sufficient". In terms of using Microsoft Power Point the teacher - respondents is "sufficient" as this category gleaned an overall average of 4.1211. Furthermore, these teachers have "sufficient " skills in Communication and Information Gathering for overall weighted mean obtained in this category is 4.0956. To sum up, it was reflected that the teacher - respondents have sufficient know-how in using basic computer application for they have a general weighted mean of 4.1125 which was verbally interpreted as "sufficient". Basically, the result implies that the teachers were skilled enough in using basic computer application but still need some enhancement to master those basic computer applications. In line with this, activities to master those skills are necessary. Based on the findings, teachers of Taytay National High School have sufficient skills in using basic computer applications such as: Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft PowerPoint; and Information and Communication Gathering. The school where the respondents graduated showed no significant relationship specifically in using Microsoft Word and Information and Communication Gathering, maybe because Microsoft Word and Information and Communication Gathering is the most commonly used computer application. The findings also showed that generally the teachers of Taytay National High School have sufficient skills in using basic computer applications. They may be good in using the computer applications but still do not have mastery of it; teachers may be having difficulties in using some commands and shortcuts. Based on the conclusions, the researchers come up to the following recommendations that the teachers should attend seminars on the utilization of various computer application programs, computer operations and information and communication which they can use to enhance their performance at work. Hence they should continue using basic computer applications to further enhance their good skills and master the use of the advanced computer applications. They should also apply those computer applications on their teaching strategies and methods so that both learners and teachers will benefit from it. Likewise, the administrators must find way to encourage technological development of teachers. They could give several means of support like conducting more enhancement seminars in upgrading the computer skills of their teachers.
