This study analyzed mass communication students’ cognitive knowledge of new as well as traditional media. Assessing it by measuring their cognitive knowledge—the ability to recall and hold onto prior information about new and traditional media sources, their differences, and how these things impact their day-to-day lives as mass communication students—allowed it to be analyzed. A semi-structured interview was conducted with twelve randomly selected individuals following the completion of a cross-sectional survey. This study attempts to bridge the gaps in answering certain issues and ensuring the need to gather data on a particular group by taking into account the paucity of research on the subject. Overall research indicates that traditional media remains highly helpful for Rizal’s mass communication students, even after considering a variety of variables pertaining to the two media.
