GS THESIS
As e-leaming continues to evolve as a cornerstone of education, its integration not only promises innovation but also underscores its potential to significantly enhance student experiences and academic achievements. This emphasizes its transformative capacity within modern teaching methodologies, ushering in new opportunities for effective and engaging learning environments.
This study investigates the effectiveness of interactive PowerPoint using Nearpod in Teaching Grade 11 Biology, conducted among Grade 11 STEM students at Commonwealth High School during the Second Semester, 3rd Quarter of the School Year 2023-2024. Three groups were formed, with two experimental groups of 40 students each and one control group also comprising 40 students. Pretest and posttest instruments, consisting of 50-item multiple-choice questions aligned with the Science Curriculum Guide for Senior High School, were utilized. The study's limitations include the necessity of an internet connection for optimal utilization of the interactive PowerPoint through Nearpod, along with session participation restrictions and limitations on the number of lessons within each account. Findings indicate significant improvements in pretest and posttest mean scores across all groups, demonstrating the effectiveness of both conventional teaching methods and interactive PowerPoint in improving student performance in Grade 11 Biology. Leamers exposed to interactive PowerPoint achieved higher posttest scores compared to the control group, showcasing the effectiveness of this approach in enhancing student engagement, active learning, and motivation. Students expressed enthusiasm for the interactive PowerPoint, praising its engaging nature, clear explanations, and interactive activities, which cater to diverse learning styles and promote collaborative learning environments Overall, interactive PowerPoint using Nearpod have shown effectiveness in improving teaching and learning outcomes in Grade 11 Biology.
The developed interactive PowerPoint presentations can enhance learning experiences across various competencies in Grade 11 General Biology, fostering engagement and relatability. Additionally, educators are encouraged to extend this approach to other subjects, evaluating its effectiveness with diverse learner groups, and promoting its adoption in instructional planning, aligning with educational standards and fostering innovation in teaching methodologies.
