520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to determine the potential of saluyot leaves extract as shampoo additives. This was conducted at university of rizal system during the school year 2017-2018. The physiochemical test was done in the department of science and technology-industrial technology development institute (dost-itdi) bicutan, taguig city, specifically in detrmining the ph level, viscosity range and moisture content of the developed shampoo. The study utilized descriptive and developmental method of research in determining the potential of saluyot leaves extract as shampoo additives. To determine the eye irritation, the developed the eye irritation, the developed shampoo was administrated to rabbit both experimental and control set ups via eye dropping administration. The right eye served as experimental site which is treated with the developed shampoo with saluyot leaves extract and left eye served as control site which received commercial shampoo. The obtained data were analyzed using mean and standard deviation method and t-test identify the significant difference of developed shampoo with saluyot leaves extract commercial shampoo in terms of eye irritation test. The developed shampoo was subjected to antimicrobial assay, using strains of bacteria including staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and candida albicans. The results revealed that on physiochemical test of the developed shampoo it obtained a ph level of 5.35, viscocity range of 2637 cp and moisture content of 77.6%ww which all passed the standard value of (ph value:5-7), viscosity range: 1250-900cp and moisture content: (70-80%ww) following the department of dermopharmacy and cosmetics and a kern mlb moisture analyzer standard. In terms of the obtained mean and standard deviation in the dermatological test performance of the developed shampoo with saluyot leaves extract and commercial shampoo with the respect to eye irritation test both treatment obtained a mean and standard deviation of 0.33, 0.47 in rednedd, 0,0 in chemosis and 1.33, 0.94 in discharge. Since both in all aspects the study did not undergo t-test method anymore to determine the significant difference. In terms of computed mean and standard deviation on the rate of zone of inhibition of staphylococcus aureus treated with the developed shampoo obtained a mean of 9.87 and standard deviation of 0.10 with verbal interpretation of inactive. Furthermore, with Escherichia coil treated developed shampoo, obtained a mean of 9.63 and standard deviation of 0.10 with the verbal interpretation of inactive. However the one treated with commercial shampoo obtained mean of 6 with the standard deviation of 2.02 and verbal interpretation of inactive. Moreover, with respect to candida albicans treated with developed shampoo obtained a mean of 11.62 and albicans treated with developed shampoo obtained a mean of 11.62 and standard deviation of 0.92 with verbal interpretation of partially active. Whereas, the one treated with commercial shampoo obtained a mean standard deviation of 0 with the verbal interpretation of inactive. Since the staphylococcus aureus, eschrichia coil and candida albicans were found inactive treated with developed shampoo and commercial shampoo. The study did not undergo t-test method anymore to determine the significant difference. Based on the findings there is no significant difference on the dermatological performance of the developed shampoo with saluyot leaves extract in terms of eye irritation test and antimicrobial assay. Based on the result obtained it can be concluded that saluyot leaves extract is a potential additive for shampoo formulation but not as antimicrobial agent.
