520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study determined the practices employed by school heads for teachers handling subjects outside their area of specialization in taytay, rizal during school year 2017-2018. Specifically, the study determined the extent of the practices employed by the school heads and teachers themselves in handling subjects outside their area of specialization. This study employed descriptive method of research utilizing evaluative design. This made use of questionnaire checklist to survey the perceptions of the school head and teacher respondents. The study sought the participation of the seven (7) school heads and ninety nine (99) public secondary school teachers handling subjects outside their area of specialization in the two districts of taytay, rizal or a total of one hundred six (106) were considered by this study who were chosen through total enumeration. The statistical treatments utilized to answer the stated problems of the study included frequency percentage distribution, weighted mean, and pearson-r. Findings revealed that out of 99 teachers who were handling subjects not their specialization, there were 74 whose educational qualification was only bachelor's degree, 19 with units in the masters, and only 6 completed master's degree. Majority of teachers (62) have been teaching for 5 years, the rest have been teaching for 6 to 21 years and above. Most of the teachers attended trainings relevant to the subjects taught on the division and regional levels, only 6 and 2 attended the national and international levels respectively. The practices employed by the school heads with respect to instructional management, training and development and evaluation and feedback mechanism were much practiced. The performance of teachers handling subjects outside their area of specialization such as MAPEH, Values education, A.P., Filipino and TLE was very satisfactory. There was significant relationship between the profile of the teachers and their level of performance in terms of the number of years teaching outside their area of specialization, but no significant relationship with respect to highest educational attainment and trainings attended relevant to the subject taught. Significant relationship was found between the extent of practices employed by the school heads and the level of performance of teachers handling subjects outside their area of specialization in terms of instructional management. The study concluded that the number of years teaching influenced the performance of teachers and the longer time spent in handling subjects outside their area of specialization may result to better performance. Further, it established that practices employed by the school heads were not correlated to the performance of the teachers.
