| Summary, etc. | The study dealt on the learning preferences of the elementary pupils that belong to the intermediate and upper grade levels in University of Rizal System- Laboratory Schools, Tanay Rizal for the school year 2020-2021. It included the total population of pupils, however due to internet problem, a total of 67 pupils finally served as respondents. Grade 4 pupils were comprised of 24, 17 for Grade 5 and I 26 for Grade 6. They were described in terms of age, sex, sibling position, monthly family income and parents’ educational attainment. Questionnaire checklist was used as main instrument in gathering data. It was distributed to the respondents in google form, hence parents’ assistance was necessitated. Finding of the study recalled that the respondents were dominated by the 12 and 10 years old, most of them are male who are first born, their mothers are bachelor degree holders, their father are mostly graduates of secondary education. Majority of them receive a monthly family income of 25 000 above. As to learning preferences it was revealed that the respondents obtained a very Much Preference on Auditory followed by kinesthetic and Reading. The hypothesis stating that there is no significant difference on the respondents’ views of their learning preferences in terms of most cited personal characteristics was accepted yet there is significant difference in terms of age and kinesthetic, parents’ educational attainment and visual and sibling position across writing and kinesthetic. Lastly reading and auditory includes monthly income. The teachers in the next school year may use role playing and actual conversation of students, guided formal theme writing and reports, preparing infographics, actual group dynamic activities, listening to recorded music and other recorded lessons and writing reaction papers and others which will address the pupils’ learning preference. Based on the aforementioned findings and conclusions, the researchers offered the following recommendations. The pupils may be guided to enhance their learning competencies through viewing, reading and writing and kinesthetic based lessons that will motivate them to exert more effort to focus on their studies. Teachers may utilize the suggested teaching strategies to cope with the learning preferences of the pupils especially in this new normal modality and conduct of parallel study using other variables may be done to meet the needs of the teachers and the pupils. |
