| Summary, etc. | The study aimed to determine the status of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Human Resource Development Management graduates from school years 2012-2013 to 2017-2018. The researchers made use of the survey questionnaire to gather data and developed by Commission of Higher Education (CHED) to obtain the needed information in the study. This study used the descriptive method of research. This study was conducted to trace the current employment status of the Human Resource Development Management graduates of the University of Rizal System Main Campus within the stated period. This study utilized total enumeration in determining the number of respondents based on the records of the College of Agribusiness Management and Office of the Registrar. Percentage was used as the primary statistical tool to analyze the data gathered. The findings of the study revealed that majority of the respondents are within the age range of 22-25 years, single, female, Roman Catholics mainly from the municipality of Tanay, Rizal. The main reasons why they pursued Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Human Resource Development Management were for immediate employment, and influence by their parents and family who are willing to support their education. The possibility of pursuing post graduate studies after graduation for career advancement was also identified as a reason. In terms of their employment status, most of them are currently employed in private service establishments enjoying regular status of work or position, and they were hired because of their occupational skills and work experience. However, some of them left from their previous work because of salaries and benefits received. After graduation, the respondents landed their first job either through the help of their relatives and friends, or the employer hired them immediately because of their qualification and interest in manual task or work and receive a monthly average net income between PhP10,000-PhP15,000. This is attributed to the fact that a primary requirement of private establishments for employment was a college degree. Most of the problems encountered by the respondents before they got a good job were little work experience for new graduates, unrelated skills required by the job, and lack of information about job openings. The respondents also considered wage, work location and education opportunities or possibility of upgrading their skills and qualification as some attributes that influence their acceptance of the job. The graduates of the Human Resource Development Management are enjoying regular employment in private service establishments. Although the new graduates lack experience, they were able to land a job. The respondents encountered problems in employment, and considered some factors before they accepted jobs. Based on the analysis of the results and conclusions, the graduates are encouraged to pursue advance studies, trainings and seminars to further improve their knowledge, develop their skills, and to grow professionally. The University should further strengthen its on-the-job and/or internship training program to expose students to various working environments and address concerns about insufficiency of work experiences especially to new graduates. The College of Agribusiness Management should establish a functional feedback mechanism with its graduates that will trace and monitor graduates to get information about their employment status. The graduates are encouraged to use what they have learned in their course by establishing their own business as young managers and entrepreneurs. The graduates are encouraged to seek and further train for certifications related to Human Resource Development Management like supervisory development courses to gain more knowledge and skills in their field. A study that will assess the needs of the business industry specifically on human resources should be conducted by the College of Agribusiness Management in order to determine the relevance and update of business programs offered through curricular revisions. |
