| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study aimed to develop a Modified Drill Press Dual Purpose Attachment out of inexpensive and locally available materials. Specifically, this study attempted to determine the level of acceptability of the Modified Drill Press Dual Purpose Attachment in terms of usefulness, safety and maintenance, functionality and durability. The researchers utilized a researcher-made questionnaire-checklist to determine the level of acceptability of Modified Drill Press Dual Purpose Attachment. It was a validated and accomplished by the respondents who provided information for the completion of the study. The results were tallied and computed for analysis. There were two groups of respondents who tested the acceptability of the project. The first group consisted of ten (10) experts who had the knowledge, skills and fully understanding on the construction of the Improvised Threaded Scaffolding while other group consisted of ten (10) Second and third year students who are taking up Diploma of Technology and Bachelor of technology courses major in Mechanical Technology at the same University. Qualitative description was used in developing and revising the said device, weighted mean was used in determining its acceptability and t-test was used in determining its significant difference between the evaluations made by the two groups of respondents. Based on the analysis and interpretation of data, the following were hereby summarized, on the design and construction of the modified drill press dual purpose attachment, the researchers were able to design a well detailed assembly drawing, pictorial drawing, and exploded drawing of the said device out of locally available materials. On the acceptability of the modified drill press dual purpose attachment, it was very much accepted by the two groups of respondents in terms of functionality, durability, usefulness and safety and maintenance, on the significant difference made by the experts and the students in terms of the above variables; it was found out that there is no significant difference between the evaluations made by the mechanical and technology experts and students on the acceptability of the modified drill press dual purpose attachment in terms of four variable cited; hence the hypothesis is accepted. Based on the foregoing findings and conclusions the researchers recommended that the device should be improved in terms of its durability; the device should be re-modeled and be added with other featured for training; further research should be done for the improvement of the study in the near to improve the function of the device; other research instrument should be advised in order to test the variables that may affect the performance of the project and parallel study should be conducted using other variables for the modification and enhancement of the project. |
