520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study entitled "Design and Development of MCU (Microcontroller Unit) based Power Saver" provided the knowledge on the use of MCU for the automation process. This study aimed to design and develop MCU Control Power Saver for household appliances and to determine the effectiveness of the device as perceived by the two groups of respondents in terms of usefulness and functionality; durability, safety and maintenance and adaptability. To achieve the objectives of the study, the statistical treatment used was developmental and descriptive-evaluative research designs. The researcher-made questionnaire-checklist was used for the evaluation of the effectiveness of developed MCU (Microcontroller Unit) Based Power Saver. Two groups of respondents were considered: the first group was selected ten (10) 5th year EE students and the second groups was the five (5) experts, composed of electronics engineers and professors in the field of Science and Technology. The findings of the study were as follows: The researchers were able to develop a MCU (Microcontroller Unit) Based Power Saver, for the usefulness and functionality, item number 2 which is the device turns on automatically when it senses a motion caused by a body entering the room and temperature above room temperature (Evaluated by the students) and item number 5 which is the device is user-friendly (evaluated by experts) got the highest weighted mean of 4.42 and 4.44 respectively. In terms of durability, item number 2 which is the developed device can be transferred to desired place without any damage (evaluated by the students) and item number 3, which is the device is able to perform for a long period of time with constant output quality (evaluated by experts) got the highest weighted mean of 4.26 and 4 respectively; for the safety and maintenance, item number 3 which is the device gives the desired output (evaluated by the students) and item number 1 which is the device is safe to use (evaluated by experts) obtain the highest weighted mean of 4.42 and 4.44 respectively; in terms of adaptability, item number 1, which is the developed device can be easily used in varying temperature (evaluated by the students and item number 2, which is the developed device can adapt on different appliances (evaluated by experts) obtain the highest weighted mean of 4.55 and 4.44 respectively. The conclusions of the study were as follows: a well-developed MCU (Microcontroller Unit) Based Power Saver provides a more convenient way in everyday living: after being evaluated by the students and experts, the consumer's automated control for household appliances was found to be generally effective in terms of usefulness and functionality, durability, safety and maintenance, and adaptability; the use of locally available materials could sustain the development of a high capability of the research device was easily conceptualized; the developed device is safe to use. The recommendations of the study were as follows: Design a separate power supply for the sensors, relay and for the microcontroller; the device must be placed shoulder level of an average human. Place and produce multiple necessary, reduce the use of separate and long wiring; further studies should be undertaken to develop and add more features in the system.
