520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc The study aimed to develop, validate and determine the level of acceptability of Science Modules as supplementary instructional aids for grade eight students. This was conducted during the annual year 2012-2013 at San Jose National High School

Specifically, the modules sought to answer the questions on the mean scores of the student-respondents in the pre-test and post-test in terms of Biodiversity, Interaction, Digestive System, Nutrition and Wellness, and Cellular Reproduction and Genetics, and if there is significant difference between the mean scores of the tests. The level of acceptability of the modules as perceived by Science Teachers in terms of objectives, contents, activities, organization, creativity, style and presentation, and evaluation

The study employed Experimental Method specifically Single Group Pretest-Posttest Design and Descriptive Method specifically Evaluative Design for the interpretation of data based on the progress of the students before and after the utilization of the developed modules The respondents were consisted of thirty (30) Grade VIII Students and seven (7) Science Teachers of San Jose National High School, and three (3) Science Professors from the University of Rizal System-Rodriguez.

The instruments used of the study were sixty-item teacher made test around 29 topics out of 5 modules and a questionnaire checklist for validation and evaluation of modules respectively

On the validity of the research instruments, the modules and test were scrutinized by the experts for their content validity, while the test made use of table of specification as well. Then, pilot test followed which gathered data underwent item analysis and split-half reliability test to determine the correlation of the test, thus obtained 0.73

The pre-test and post-test was conducted to validate the modules. Then it was preceded by score gathering of the pre-test and post-test which data were subjected to appropriate statistical treatment, analysis and interpretation.

On the mean scores of the student-respondents in the pre-test and post-test within 5 learning areas was shown an increased from 30.23 into 39.37 respectively

Regarding the significant difference between the mean scores, the p value 0.000 is less than 0.05 level of significance, thus the null hypothesis was rejected.

On the acceptability of Science Modules, the Science teachers evaluated it using the adapted questionnaire checklist. Along with the objective obtained weighted mean of 3.92, content obtained weighted mean of 3.79, activities obtained weighted mean of 3.786, organization got weighted mean of 3.8333, creativity obtained weighted mean of 3. 8875, style and presentation obtained weighted mean of 3.62 and evaluation obtained weighted mean of 3.78. Based on the findings, the following conclusions were drawn

The students as exposed to the modules improved their performance in Science

Thus, the progress was found to be significant. Lastly, the developed modules were evaluated acceptable, hence it can be used as instructional material

Based on the result of the study, the following recommendations are hereby offered by the researchers. Students are encouraged to embrace independent instruction for it addresses their potential development. Teachers should be trustworthy facilitators of learning as far as modular instructions are concerned. They should be at all times around if needed by the students for clarification of topics in the module. For no instructional materials are effective without the proper guidance of the educator. Curriculum planner and administrators of alternative learning system (ALS) should support such study, allot funds to those who want to pursue any study related to improvement of instructional materials. Parents should allot time in monitoring their children while at home Parental supervision is very important in reinforcing continuous learning environment even at home Future researchers are advised to meet and consider the suggestions and comments given by the experts if wish to pursue developmental study like modular instructions.
