| Summary, etc | This study investigated the effects of pil-ipil leaves concoction in the growth performance of cucumber in an experimental approach with three variables treated
differently and each treatment were replicated in three. In this study, the researchers used Randomized Block Design and Analysis of Variance as the
statistical tool in interpreting the data of the study. This study was conducted to determine the effectivity of lpil-ipil concoction as a fertilizer for cucumber.
The study was conducted at a small garden at Munting llaw, Phase 1, Kasiglahan, Rodriguez, Rizal for three (3) months from August 30, 2023 - November 16, 2023. This study utilized urban gardening due to the limited space available for conducting the research. A total of 9 rows were made with 6 sacks per row then the cucumbers were transplanted totaling to 54 plants. The subject
of the study was supplemented with ipil-ipil fermented in molasses for seven (7)
days.
The subject of the study was watered and treated in a controlled manner,
the first treatment or the control variable was supplied with only pure water, the
second treatment was supplemented with a solution of two (2) tbsp. of concoction
diluted in one (1) liter of water, the last treatment received a mixture of three (3)
tbsp. of the concoction diluted in one (1) liter of water.
The study effects of Ipil-ipil (Leucaena leucocephala) leaves concoction on
the growth performance of cucumber used a one-way ANOVA to compare the means of the different treatment groups. The finding showed that statically there
was no significant difference in terms of number of flowers, number of fruit and length of yield. However in terms of weight of yield statically there was a significant difference.
The economic profitability of Ipil-ipil leaves as concoction on cucumber showed that the Return on Investment was the highest in Treatment 3 was 91.01%, followed by treatment 1 with 70% then the treatment 2 with 31.91%.
The researchers recommended that if you will use pil-ipil leaves for making concoction make sure to add other plants that can provide other nutrients such as phosphorus and potassium. Especially if your crops are not leafy vegetables. Other researchers, may also conduct this research in a different area/setting, subjects and dosages, the researchers also advice regular monitoring as part of pest
management |
