520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc Summary:

This study aimed to determine the Level of Vocabulary of Grade VI Pupils in Rodriguez Heights Elementary School.

It involved 101 grade six pupils who were enrolled for the school year 2010-2011.

The results of the study are statistically treated with the use of frequency, percentage distribution, mean and One-way ANOVA.

Based on the analyzed data the following were the findings: On the profile of the respondents, it was found out that female students outnumbered the male students. The former had the frequency of 63 or 62.4 percent while the latter had 38 or 37.6 percent. On the final grade of the respondents, most of them got a final grade of 80 with a frequency

of 23 or 22.6 percent. With regard to the educational attainment of the respondents' parents, most were high school graduates with the frequency of 37 or 36.6 percent, while the least graduates were elementary with the frequency of 11 or 10.9 percent. The monthly family income ranged from 2,000-4,000 with the frequency of 42 or 41.6 percent. Encyclopedias were with the most common available reading materials at home of the respondents with the frequency of 74 or 19.58 percent.

On the vocabulary level of the respondents it was revealed that the mean was 16 verbally interpreted fair.

On the significant difference between the profile of the respondents and their vocabulary level, it was found out that there was no relationship between the vocabulary level of the respondents and their profile in terms of sex, final grade in grade V, educational attainment of parents and monthly family income but not in the availability of reading materials at home.

In the light of the findings stipulated previously, the following were the recommendations: The school administrators should provide relevant materials that would help the instructors in improving the reading and vocabulary skills of the learners.

English teachers should think of an interactive approach for their students to boost their interest and provide more reading exercises to train them up thus making them independent readers. Pupils should read lots of reading materials to enhance their vocabulary skills and be familiar with difficult words. Parents should expose their children in books and encourage them to read. Moreover, they should make reading habit as much as possible a bonding moment with their child. Future researchers should conduct a related study on macro skills to highly support the findings of this study.
