| Summary, etc | This study primarily aimed of finding the acceptability of web-based instructional materials in teaching selected topic in Science and Health 6 among public elementary school teachers within the municipality of Rodriguez, Rizal, School Year 2011-2012<br/><br/>This study was focused on knowing the profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, educational attainment, and their length of service. It tried also to find the level of acceptability of the developed web-based instructional materials in terms of its GUI (Graphical User Interface), webpage navigational factors, and webpage caching factors such as mouse click response, keyboard press response, and page load response. It sought to answer further on the significant difference between the profile of the respondents and the level of acceptability of the developed web-based instructional materials in teaching the topic "Nervous System" based on the Science and Health 6 PELC of the DepEd (Department of Education)<br/><br/>This study employed the descriptive design to find out the level of acceptability of the developed web-based instructional materials in teaching the "Nervous System" The data gathered were classified, tallied and tabulated using the following statistical framework: Frequency, percentage and weighted mean were used to determine the profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex, educational attainment, and length of service Frequency, percentage, and weighted mean were used to determine the profile of the acceptability of the developed web-based instructional materials in terms of GUI (Graphical User Interface), navigation, and caching One-way ANOVA was used to determine if there was a significant difference between the profile of the respondents and the level of acceptability of the developed web-based instructional materials in teaching the topic "Nervous System among public elementary school teachers in Rodriguez, Rizal<br/><br/>Based on the study, the acceptability of respondents with ages between 20-35 years was higher than the acceptability of the respondents with ages between 36-45 years. While in terms of gender, the acceptability of male respondents was higher than female respondents Based on the highest degree of education obtained, the acceptability of the respondents with Master's Degree (or units) was higher than those who did not have. While in terms of average number of years in teaching, respondents with the shortest and longest average number of years in teaching was higher than those respondents in 'mid' number of years in teaching This study also found out in the self-assessment of respondent's basic computing skills in terms of general computing and internet literacy rating, majority of the respondents could une sumple computer programs and perform a sequence of routine tasks given directions. It was found out that the most often used computer applications were word processing programs, spreadsheet applications, and presentation applications In terms of computer application rating, majority of the respondents at least in average knew how to use the computer software enumerated in this study Based on the research findings of this study, conclusion could be drawn that there was a very high level of acceptability of the developed web-based instructional maternals in teaching selected topic in Science and Health 6 among the different public elementary school teachers within the municipality of Rodriguez, Rizal<br/><br/>Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn With regards to age, sex, educational attainments, and length of service, teacher's acceptability of the web-based instructional materials was the same. Female teachers whose ages range from 33 and above are getting more engaged in using technology, especially the web, in teaching. There is a high level of acceptability of the web-based instructional materials<br/><br/>Based on the findings and conclusions, the following recommendations were hereby offered To government's policy-makers, should allocate budgets for the school, especially in the far-flung areas wherein even the very basic of facilities were lacking, students were deprived of their right to education by refusing to provide them with adequate facilities for learning. To the teachers, they should not be contented with what you know, enhance, explore, upgrade. Computing skills is very necessary nowadays, and should be learned. They should not be traditional so that students could relate more to them, especially the should be learned. They should not be traditional so that students could relate more to them, especially the young ones who were exposed to technology nowadays. Teaching will be much fun and less stressful with the aid of computers through multimedia and interactive instructional materials. Teachers should just have to learn the hang of it. To parents, they should guide their children when using computers, inculcate in the minds of their children that computers were not meant be used as a gaming device only. Computers is much better used as a learning tool. Students should enjoy doing their schools works even when not at school. To students, this study should serve as an inspiration and motivation for them to focus more on their learning; they should appreciate all the efforts being done unto them by studying well, being disciplined, well-mannered, and learned. To fellow researchers, the findings of this study would serve as a guide and a primer in conducting related research. |
