| Summary, etc | This study investigates the communication skills of Office Administration students, focusing on their lived experiences, perceived challenges, and opportunities for growth. Employing a phenomenological design, the research utilized qualitative methods to delve deeply into the students' experiences, aiming to uncover the universal essence of their communication competencies and obstacles without preconceived assumptions. Participants included third- and fourth-year students from the University of Rizal System and San Mateo Municipal College, selected based on their academic enrollment in the Office Administration program, regardless of age, gender, or background.<br/><br/>Data were collected through in-depth interviews and systematically analyzed, revealing that active listening emerged as a crucial skill for fostering trust, minimizing errors, and enhancing collaboration. Additionally, verbal communication was identified as vital for teamwork, professionalism, and effective problem-solving, while written communication was seen as essential for ensuring clarity and the efficient exchange of information. However, the study also highlighted significant gaps in students' communication skills, including public speaking anxiety, difficulties with digital communication tools, and limited opportunities for practical experience, which hinder their academic performance and career readiness.<br/><br/>The findings emphasize the necessity of addressing these barriers through targeted interventions to improve students' communication capabilities. Participants suggested integrating workshops focused on public speaking, writing<br/><br/>proficiency, and digital communication into the curriculum, as well as incorporating practical activities such as role-playing and simulations to build confidence and adaptability. Moreover, the students advocated for more constructive feedback from instructors to refine their communication skills effectively.<br/><br/>This study provides valuable insights for educators in Office Administration programs, suggesting that curriculum enhancements should include workshops and practical exercises that focus on communication skills essential for students' academic and professional success. The research signifies the importance of active engagement in developing these skills and encourages students to participate in group discussions, public speaking events, and collaborative activities. The study lays a foundation for further exploration of curriculum improvements and innovative pedagogical methods aimed at advancing communication competencies. Future research could assess the long-term effectiveness of enhanced communication-focused curricula and investigate novel strategies and technologies for teaching these skills in response to the evolving demands of academic and professional environments. |
