| Summary, etc. | This study entitled “Awareness and Effects of Climate Change to Farmers” was conducted in the first semester of the school year 2024-2025. The main objective of this study was to determine the level of awareness and extent of effects of climate change to farmers in Teresa and Morong, Rizal. The study used a descriptive research design utilizing a survey method through a questionnaire-checklist made by the researchers as the major instrument in gathering the data needed in the Teresa and Morong, Rizal farmers. The subject of the study was one hundred (100) farmers from six (6) barangays. Four (4) barangays in Teresa such as May-Iba, Dalig, San Gabriel and Poblacion. Two (2) barangays in Morong such as Lagundi and CCL (Caniogan, Calero and Lanang). The variables considered in research are the profile of the respondents such as age, sex, years of farming, types of farming and location of farm, the level of awareness of climate change to farmers with respect to abnormalities changes to climate, calamities, polluted environment and natural phenomena, and the extent of effects of climate change to farmers with respect to personal daily life, food production and resources shortage. The research is limited to the farmers of Teresa and Morong, Rizal and to their level of awareness and extent of effects of climate change to farmers. The following statistical treatments were considered for the analysis and interpretation of data. Frequency, percentage and rank distribution were utilized to determine the profile of the respondents, to determine the level of awareness of climate change to farmers by themselves with respect to the given aspects, mean was utilized. To determine the extent of effects of climate change to farmers by themselves, mean was utilized. To find the significant difference on the level of awareness of climate change to farmers, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used. Based on the summary of findings, several conclusions are drawn. The study revealed that most respondents were male. Primarily aged 40-49, respondents reported being “much aware” of climate change, particularly in terms of abnormalities in climate, calamities, polluted environment, and natural phenomena. In terms of the extent of effects of, respondents “often” experienced impacts such as personal daily life, food production and resource shortage. Significant differences in the level of awareness were observed based on age, years of farming, and location of farm, while sex and type of farming showed no significant differences. On the other hand, significant differences in the extent of effects were found for age, years of farming, type of farming, and location of farm, while sex showed no significant differences. Overall, the findings indicated strong relationship between the level of awareness and the extent of effects, suggesting that understanding these factors could enhance farmers’ resilience and adaptation to climate change impacts. In terms of recommendations, the study suggests that the LGU may consider the conduct of different programs and other activities relative to climate change and Barangay officials may organize farmers who will address their problems, issues and concerns. In addition, future researches may explore and analyze utilizing other variables. |
