Summary, etc This research aimed to determine the Effectiveness of Film Viewing as a Tool for Understanding Literature among Grade 9 Students of General Liceri Geronimo Memorial National High School SY 2014-2015. The respondents of this study were the grade 9 students of General Licerio Geronimo Memorial National High School, school Year 2014-2015 Section Ipil-ipil was chosen which consist for a population of 20 Girls and 30 Boys with a total of 50 students as the respondents.<br/><br/>The Researchers used Experimental method with a Pre-test Post-test Single Group Design. Pre-test Post-test designs are an expansion of the posttest design with nonequivalent groups, one of the simplest methods of testing the effectiveness of an intervention<br/><br/>After conducting the study, the following findings were obtained. On the profile of the respondents in terms of Sex. The researchers found out the that majority of the respondents are male with a frequency of 30 or 60 percent and a frequency of 20 or 40 percent are female, while in the profile of the respondents in terms of age are, The oldest among the is 20 years of age with a frequency of 1 or 2 percent and the youngest among them all is 14 years of age with a frequency of 18 or 36 percent<br/><br/>On mean scores of the pre-test and post-test, The researchers found out that the respondents got a weighted mean of 08.58 percent in their pre-test and a percentage of 19.66 percent in their post-test of the movie UP; They obtained a weighted mean of 09.18 percent in their pre-test and a percentage of 19.16 percent in their post-test of the movie Beowulf, and They garnered a weighted mean of 09 percent in their pre-test and 23.42 percent in their post-test of the movie Count of Monte Cristo. On the significant difference between the pre-test and the post-test mean score. The computed T-value is 9.45 while the P-value is 0.000 which is less than 0.5 level of significance thus, the null hypothesis was rejected, therefore, there is significance difference between the pre-test mean score and post mean score of the respondents.<br/><br/>Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were obtained: The mean scores in Pre-test and Post-test shows that all of the scores after the post-test improved; and There is significant difference between pre-test and post-test. Therefore Film viewing is an effective tool for understanding literature.<br/><br/>Based on the findings of the study, the following recommendations were offered: to The School Administrations should conduct more activities regarding about teaching literature using different effective strategies; to The Teachers of English should provide more activities and often use films as a tool in teaching literature to catch the attention and interest of the learners, The Students should appreciate the importance of learning literature that they can apply in real life situations; to The Researchers are encouraging the researchers to conduct related studies as future teachers for future use. And to the Instructors incorporate film into the course materials of all subjects simply because it does make a great difference, especially when it's properly used.
