520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The Philippines is prone to earthquakes due to its location within the Pacific Ring of Fire, however, there are very few housing structures that incorporate with earthquake vibration control systems within the country, especially in provinces like Rizal. The objective of this study is to design a Multi-Storey Apartment Building with Shear Wall and Dampers which was conducted in Brgy. Tatala, Binangonan, Rizal during the school year 2022-2023. The study specifically aimed to accomplish the feasibility study conducted in Brgy. Tatala, site visitation, the space programming, the detailed engineering plan, the structural analysis, cost estimation, and the BIM model of the apartment building. In this study, the researchers used the developmental research method to analyze, design, and developed the apartment building in order to create an environment of safety that would reduce casualties during an earthquake. The Design of Multi-Storey Apartment Building with Shear Wall and Dampers in Brgy. Tatala, Binangonan, Rizal is proven feasible to the market according to the survey. The target market are adults with ages from 21 years old to 30 years’ old that are financially prepared to pay ₱8,500 for single to double apartment unit and ₱15,000 for units with 3 to 4 occupants. The return of capital will take 7 years of operation which will be on the year 2030. The researchers used the leading promotional methods from the survey questionnaires which are the online promotion, window sign, and the word-of-mouth promotion. The research locale, Brgy. Tatala, Binangonan, Rizal is suitable for the construction of this project as it is near points of interests, and public transportation is very accessible. The total lot area is 7,881 square meters and 0.9982 kilometers away from Tatala Barangay Hall, 0.94748 kilometers away from Tatala Elementary School, and 2.45 kilometers away from Batingan Triangle. The research locale is located in seismic response zone 4, and 16.1 km away from the nearest seismic source which is the West Valley Fault System, one of the largest fault system in the Philippines that is capable of producing more than magnitude 7 earthquake. Using STAAD design analysis, the structural elements was tested. The reinforcement for slab will be using 12mm diameter bars spaced at 220mm both top bars and bottom bars. The dimension of tie beams that carries the 400mm thick shear walls are 400mmx400mm using 20mm bars as well as the tie beams with 400mmx300mm dimensions that carries the 200mm thick shear wall. The typical beams used 16mm diameter bar. The column has the dimension of 400mmx400mm used 20mm and 16mm diameter bars spaced at 170mm. For footing, the bars used are 20mm diameter bars spaced at 140mm. The exterior shear wall is 400mm thick used 20mm diameter horizontal bars and 16mm diameters vertical bars, as well as the 200mm thick shear wall that is used as elevator shaft. Taylor device model 17160 and 17170 will be the Fluid Viscous Dampers used. Comparing the plate center of ordinary multi-storey building, multi-storey building with shear wall, and multi-storey building with shear wall and dampers, it concludes that the apartment building with shear wall and dampers is the best design for producing an earthquake proof building as it shows the lowest possible stresses in the analysis. The detailed estimated cost for the multi-storey apartment building with shearwall and dampers is 128,520,479.15. The shear wall and the custom-made fluid viscous dampers significantly raised the costs of the apartment building with shear wall and dampers compared to the estimated costs of an ordinary five-storey apartment building with the same floor area. For recommendation, future researchers are advised to broaden the scope of the feasibility study. A complete financial statement and a more precise prediction of the multi-story apartment building's assets, liabilities, and revenue can be obtained by seeking investors. It is also advised that the future researchers undertake a simulation to compare structures with and without shear walls and dampers using ETABS software in order to provide a more effective earthquake analysis.
