520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The study was conducted to determine the effect of water current in hatching and embryonic development in common carp egg (Cyprinus carpio). Hatching jar were used as an incubator with its own valve to control the flow of water current. The common carp egg (Cyprinus carpio) was incubated with different water current with the density of 2,000 pieces of eggs per 4 liters of hatching jar: stagnant, low (99 sec/L), moderate (45 sec/L), high (22.5 sec/L), and very high (11.75 sec/L) water flow rate. The survival and embryonic development were counted and determined. Experimental design was used to determine the effects of water current on the hatching and embryonic development of common carp eggs (Cyprinus carpio). The study was conducted at BFAR-NFFTC CLSU Compound Muñoz, Nueva Ecija for about 48 hours of incubation. Within 48 hours, the flow of water current was monitored from time to time. The eggs were preserved for further identification of their embryonic development. Results showed that moderate water current is the most appropriate water current for hatching and advance embryonic development. Survival rate of 54% was the highest among the other treatments. Chi-square tests indicated, there is a significant effect of water current in the hatching and embryonic development of common carp egg (Cyprinus carpio).
