Thesis (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) -- University of Rizal System-Morong.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The University of Rizal System is one of the Universities in the Philippines that gain a lot of achievement in terms of academic programs, this was the reason why incoming freshmen students decided to take their Bachelor's Degree in the said University. But due to immediate increase of population of different colleges, the facilities became insufficient to accommodate the large number of students and one of these was the food court. In response to this problem, the researchers proposed a design of a cafeteria for the university. The objective of the study was to design a Two-Storey Cafeteria at University of Rizal System Morong Campus that includes architectural, structural, electrical and plumbing plan. Based from the analysis and computation of the outcome cross section for beams was 350mm x 500mm, for column was 500mm x 500mm, for column footing was 1000mm x 1000mm and other structural details was presented in the study. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the design of the two-storey cafeteria can resists structural and seismic loads, thus it is safe for use and can be accepted in terms of serviceability and functionality. It was recommended to conduct soil boring test on the proposed construction area of project to determine the characteristics and bearing capacity of the soil. Further study may be made to improve the design of the structure and check the design computations using Structural Aide Analysis Design (STAAD).
