Descriptive method was utilized in this study and there were one hundred fifty-six (156) BSOA students from URS Tanay, Pililla, Antipolo, Binangonan and Rodriguez. The responses of 12 students from every campus were utilized. The actual respondents were composed of 49 females and 11 males who were randomly selected. The questionnaire/checklist was the primary instrument in gathering needed data. This was provided to the respondents to determine their profile and factors affecting their shorthand skill development. A five point scale was used to determine the extent of these factors. The percentage, weighted mean and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used to treat the data gathered. The following were the results of the study: With regard to the profile of the respondents, it shows that most of the respondents belonged to the age group of 18 - 23, most of them were female respondents and receive a monthly family income of P20,000 and below. With regard to the factors influencing shorthand skills development of the respondents in terms of student factor, interest of the subject was identified as a major factor. In terms of teacher factor, most of them identified the teaching strategy and creativity as a major factor. In terms of school factor, most of them revealed that the school policy for teaching and action takes for improving teaching practice as a major factor. Base on the findings and conclusion in terms of age, sex and family income it reveals that there have no significant differences. There is .001 significant difference in the student factors that influence the shorthand skill development as they are grouped into campus. However, there are no significant differences in the teacher and school factors when they are grouped as to campus. Based on the findings and conclusions, it was recommended that the students should continue to practice and use, as much as possible, shorthand for everyday applications in order to further develop their knowledge and to sustain their shorthand skills learned. Moreover, the students should be encouraged to take additional trainings and certifications in the field of shorthand writing to upgrade their skills and appreciation of this field of writing. The teachers should utilize more effective and updated teaching strategies in shorthand so as to ensure that students can develop and improve their skills in this field. Also, the university should ensure the availability of learning laboratories and materials for this course in order to maintain the level of competence for student learning. A study investigating the competency level of the students in shorthand writing using a standardized type of test should be conducted in the university so as to ascertain the level and relevance of the skills acquired by the students. Lastly, a similar study using other variables that may contribute to the development of the shorthand skills of the students should be conducted so as to enrich and contribute to knowledge about the skills development of students in general.
