EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: This study was conducted to show how Formalist Criticism affects WATTPAD Stories through different elements and parts of the story such as form, mood, and discourse. The research was conducted at the University of Rizal System Morong Rizal during the academic year 2014-2015. The descriptive qualitative type of research was used since the analysis and interpretation do not require quantification but rather an investigation based from the identification of the novel's structural elements. Data of the study were gathered through the discussion of the selected Wattpad stories using Formalist Criticism. Different elements from this literary trend were used such as form (for the different elements), mood (for the different emotions) and discourse (for the use of words). The findings shown the presentation of the characters, setting, plot and theme in form were sufficient to meet the reader's goal to be entertained. In conclusion, the presentation of the mood is shown in discourses that gave life and action of the whole story that was shown in two novels. The three elements are interrelated to one another that creates a meaning on the text and made the two novels as meaningful whole. After having accomplished the discussions of all the elements of Formalist Criticism, the researchers recommended Wattpad as a material to study different theories like reader response theory and it can also be a material in teaching literature.
