Online resources: Dissertation note: Thesis Bachelor of Science in Biology University of Rizal System-Morong 2018 Summary: EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The study aimed to determine the activity of suba leaves extract has anthelmintic agent. The leaves extract of suba was used in the study and compared its effect with commercially prepared anthelmintic (mebendazole) and ethalonic suba extract (95% ethanol) substances. The study was conducted at the university of rizal system, morong, rizal during the school year 2017-2018. The study used one hundred twenty (120) pieces of earthworms with length of 5 cm to 8 cm. Leaves of suba were immersed to 95% ethanol for forty-eight hours (48hrs) to produce the ethanolic suba extract and 500 ml of distilled water to produce leaves extract of suba. The study used experimental method of research in determining the anthelmintic effect of suba leaves extract against earthworms. The earthworms were collected before the experimentation. Afterwards, they were put in the petri dishes with normal saline solution (nss) labeled with leaves suba extract, commercial anthelmintic, ethanolic suba extract and distilled water which all contain ten (10) earthworms per petri dish. The data gathered were tallied and computed and interpreted using the appropriate statistical treatment. The obtained mean and standard deviation (sd) were used to determine the rate of effectiveness of pure suba concentration, ethanolic suba extract, and commercial anthelmintic on earthworms. Whereas one way analysis of variance (anova) were used to determine the significant difference in pure suba concentration, ethanolic suba extract, and commercial anthelmintic. The study found out that the ethanolic suba extract obtained the highest mean of 10.00 dead earthworms and has the highest anthelmintic potential effect. The study also found out that pure extract, ethanolic suba extract, and commercial anthelmintic, have significant difference in terms of anthelmintic effect. Therefore, the effectiveness of suba leaves extract and commercial anthelmintic drugs is closely related.
