The system of feeding practiced for the whole duration of the project was
restricted manner where feeds were given in a limited amount. The feeds used
were pelet type of commercial feeds. This was given in the morning (8 00 am) in
the aftermoon (12: 00 pm) and late in the afternoon (5. 00 pm) The first feed
Used was pre- starter with a daily intake of 0.5 kilo per head. The total feed
consumed for pre- starter was one hundred (100) kilos. Gradual shifting of feeds
from pre- starter to starter was done by the proponents in order not to upset the
normal feeding behaviour of the hogs. On the 23° days, 70% of pre- starter and
30% starter was given. On the next day, 50% of both pre- starter and starter
were given, followed by 30% pre- starter and 70% starter. Finally on the 26" day.
100% starter feeds was given with a daily feed intake of 0.6 kilo per head and
was given within thirteen (13) days and after another thirteen (13) days an
increase of 0.2 kilo per head was added to its daily intake which resulted to one
(1) kilo per head. The total feed consumed for starter was one hundred fifty six
(156) kilos. Similar to the shifting of pre- starter to starter changing of feeds from
starter to grower was done gradually. On the first shifting, 70% starter and 309%
grower was given, next shifting was 50% of both starter and grower, then last
shiting was 30% starter and 70% grower. On the 65"" day, grower feeds were
Given with a daily intake of 15 kilos per head which was consumed within 18
days Orn the rext twenty (20) days a daily intake of 1.9 kilos was given, then 2
kilos per head was given for another 30 days. The total feed consumed in grower
was one thousand (1, 000) kilos
